The Ipswich Festival is the city's annual art and cultural celebration showcasing nationally acclaimed artists and emerging local talents through the presentation of specialised community activities and diverse cultural and artistic programs.

Festivities commence on Thursday 7th April and continues with an 18 day program of theatre, exhibitions, visual and public art, music, and family focused entertainment until Sunday 24th April.

We invite everyone to join us in the city’s celebrations, commencing with family-favourite 'Fire on the River', the awe-inspiring display of fireworks and laser lights, launching the festivities.
The festival offers a vibrant and rich multicultural celebration at Global Fiesta with energising performances of Bollywood and South Pacific Island dancing, gypsy swing by the stunning Budapest Swing Trio from Europe, the rhythm of African drums and the sounds of Brazilian Samba rock.

The ticketed events will rock, shock and transport you beyond the fourth wall with Sounds of the Sixties; the Festival Cabaret - A Dame, A Devil & A Diva; and the eclectic combined theatre program effecting a mix of drama, pathos and comedy. The fabulous Sounds of the Sixties takes you on a magical mystery tour with songs from artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Roy Orbison and The Seekers, while the Festival Cabaret – A Dame, A Devil & A Diva mixes three very naughty stars into one corrupt cabaret cocktail, and our eclectic combined theatre program adds a mix of drama, pathos and comedy.

This year we see two of Australia’s favourite and dynamic entertainers perform live on stage - lead singing front man Frankie J Holden and outstanding showbiz collaborator Wilbur Wilde at Jazz Wine & Blues in Queen’s Park, while Creative Kidz is all about the kids with arts and craft workshops from Music Instrument making to Plaster Painting and Orbital Art, Larrikin Puppets and Science Steve.

The 2016 Ipswich Festival Parade of Light celebrates everything ‘Superheroes and Villains – Comic Book Adventures’ style, followed by the Heritage Bank Street Concert & Honk - one of the Festival highlights.
