Exhibition of atmospheric landscapes with a pre-publishing poetry book launch.

It is with great pleasure that Australian artist, Corinne Loxton, and Hobart poet, Tony Brennan invite you to the launch of ‘A Beauty That Catches’, a synergy of poetry and paintings on August 8. 26 Jul – 14 Aug will be the exhibition dates.

Corinne, an internationally exhibited landscape painter and Tony, a published and recognized Tasmanian poet, have combined their talents to create a unique and moving experience. Inspired by Tony’s touching and witty poems, Corinne has produced a series of paintings interpreting the words in image. At the launch you will hear Tony read his poems, meet Corinne and be able to view and purchase her paintings.

Tony’s poems and Corinne’s paintings offer you an alternative to the often-chaotic pace of contemporary life, where incessant sounds and images crowd out stillness and contemplation. Their works are a celebration of the grandeur and simplicity of life, of heartbreaks and heartaches, of aspirations, triumphs and failures. Sometimes they seem joyful and light, at other times rich in pathos and anguish.

Both Tony and Corinne are committed to having a positive impact on their families and in their communities through their work in secondary education. Despite recently taking on the demanding role of head of campus of the St Francis Flexible Learning Centre, Tony is soon to publish his first solo book of 53 poems. Opened in February this year in Hobart, St Francis Flexible Learning Centre is a different sort of school catering to young people who need an alternative to conventional schools.

‘A Beauty That Catches’ promises to be a rich and thought-provoking event for Hobart art and poetry lovers.
