Every year on ANZAC Day, The Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL) brings cities and towns across the nation together to honour the men and women who have served and continue to serve our great nation.

On 25 April, and the week preceding, the RSL WA Branch is holding major commemorative events in Perth and around the state, where over 100,000 people will attend and pay respect to those who fought and fell for our country.

2016 is the 100th anniversary of some of the deadliest battles on the Western Front and of the formation of the Returned Sailors and Soldiers’ Imperial League of Australia (now the RSL). It is also the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in Vietnam.

Immerse yourself in the ANZAC experience and participate in one of the 100+ events being held around WA. Here is a summary of the major events planned in Perth. For regional events please visit The Returned and Services League of Australia website.

Sunset Services
Wednesday 20 April to Sunday 24 April, 5:00pm – 5:30pm
Sunset Services will be held late afternoon around the Flame of Remembrance. Each service will focus on a different theme, based on battles fought 50 and 100 years ago, and include speeches and a moving wreath laying ceremony.

Dawn Service at State War Memorial
25 April, 5:50am – 7:00am
Thousands will gather for the Dawn Service at the State War Memorial on Fraser Avenue.

ANZAC Day Parade
25 April, 9am – 11am
The Australian Defence force will step off from the corner of Barrack Street and St George’s Terrace at 9:00am, followed by veteran-carrying vehicles and military jeeps, and the Ex-Services Unit, Corps, and Regimental Associations. The parade will march east along St George’s Terrace, turn right onto Victoria Avenue and into Langley Park (not Supreme Court Gardens as it has in past years).

Avoid delays and Park and Ride, then use the free Transperth shuttle service from Elizabeth Quay Bus Station to Kings Park.
