April 25th, 2016 marks the centenary of the ANZAC Day commemoration, with the first of these being held throughout Australia and the UK on April 25, 1916, one year after the fateful Gallipoli landing in World War I. This event will be marked at ANZAC Cottage with our now traditional Sunset Service held at 5:15pm “at the going down of the sun”. The ceremony will be preceded by a free wreath making workshop for children at 3pm wherein our young visitors can fashion their own wreaths in readiness for the wreath laying component of our Sunset Service.

This very special and very personal commemoration also reflects on the sacrifice made by those who were left at home as well as the servicemen and women who gave their all for their country.
All are welcome to attend and the Cottage, situated at 38 Kalgoorlie St Mt Hawthorn will be open from 3pm for visitors to tour the Cottage and view the changes recently made to the exhibits. Entry is free with afternoon tea available for a gold coin donation.
