Swiss-born, but Berlin-based, David Keno is one of the most followed and established underground house acts on the planet. His career as a DJ, producer and record label boss has spanned over a decade - a timeframe in which he has created a very unique and niche sound. A David Keno track incorporate house and techno, but as his childhood musical heroes might suggest (Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode), he has a flare too for the dramatic.

His career started in 2007 with the release of his ‘Bubble Bath’ EP, and since then he has released on some of today’s most popular labels including Suara, Snatch!, Trapeze and Kindisch. Keno is also known for his exceptional A+R skills, kickstarted the careers of up and coming acts like Jaxson, Angel Stoxx and Alec Troniq though his Keno Recordings.

With Keno in the headlines again after the huge ‘Play/Youth’ release on Mother Recordings last month (major support from Sonny Fodera, Claptone, Roger Sanchez, Riva Starr, Doorly, Huxley, Stacey Pullen and more), the time is right for the producer to head to Australia for 4 anticipated dates.

David Keno was born in Bern, Switzerland but moved to Berlin early on in his life. Keno’s musical life began when he learned to play guitar and drums as a child, influenced by the sounds of Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode. He played in various rock bands throughout his childhood before discovering his passion for electronic music. After the discovery, he purchased a drum machine and an old Korg synthesizer and began to experiment with different sounds, incorporating both house and techno and eventually creating a niche of his own.

His hard work paid off and in 2005, when he caught the attention of record label Pocketgame who signed him in for his first release Bubble Bath EP under the alias Vernis. This signalled the start of his career and in the time since he has released on labels such as i220, Kindisch Records, ELP, Yellow Trail, using his own name. In 2007, Keno established his own label Keno Records. The label provided a platform not only for his own releases but also for exciting artists such as Jaxson, Angel Stoxx and Alec Troniq.

Keno’s signature beats fill dancefloors wherever he plays yet have a distinct melodic touch and have paved way for a number of co-productions, most notably his work with Me & Her, and Nico Stojan. This year has been as busy as ever for Keno with the release of his latest club banger EP ‘Youth’ on Mother Recordings this month and a tour that is set to conclude in Australia and New Zealand in December.
