InkMasters Cairns Inc third InkFest, a festival of printmaking, is on again this year! As well as the InkMasters Print Exhibition and the BIG PRINT event, InkFest will again host weekend workshops in a range of mediums. This is a great opportunity to explore or extend your interest in printmaking under the guidance of our professional InkMaster printmakers.

The workshops are ideal for beginners as well as experienced artists.
Your print will automatically be included in “New Prints from InkFest 2016 Workshops” exhibition at the Tanks, adjacent to the international InkMasters Print Exhibition 29 Jul-21 Aug 16.

Japanese Woodcut is a relief print made from carved wood blocks using water-based ink. InkMaster Yvonne Hering studied Moku hanga or Japanese woodcut for a number of years with two Japanese woodcut masters in Japan. This is the second Moku hanga workshop she has delivered for InkMasters. She is a teacher and has delivered classes in Moku hanga throughout the region.

The workshop will recap the basics and introduce some more advanced techniques. You will create a multi-colour print on Japanese paper. Materials and tools are supplied - knives, paper, water-based non-toxic colours. New participants will be given a carving kit to keep. Previous workshop participants, please bring your tools. Moku hanga is an ideal art form if you do not have a press, as printing is done with a baren, i.e. a hand-press.

Workshop is open to ages 15+. All materials are supplied
Cost $175 for members, $205 for non members
