InVerse - Exhibition of Original Prints By Open Bite Printma

Language has power - Power to evoke emotions, to conjure images in our minds and nudge our thoughts along certain pathways. This latest exhibition from Open Bite Inc combines the dual artistry of poetry and printmaking to explore the limitless visual potential of language. Many printing processes create an image that is the reverse of the original block or plate. Printmakers become accustomed to looking at the world slightly differently, to seeing the inverse.

This year the printmakers from Open Bite have found their inspirations literally “in verse”. Each of the 22 exhibiting artists has selected a line or phrase from a poetic text as the kernel of a series of print works. The chosen words have been used as a launching pad for a myriad of interpretations in print media including etching, collagraph, woodblock, lithograph, screenprint, linocut and monoprints.
