Jazz in The Green David Bentley Trio

The David Bentley Trio (DB3) brings a cool groove to the Imperial Hotel on September 18 - a swinging, spirited and multi-faceted lineup that performs original songs, timeless jazz standards, funky blues and New Orleans grooves.

David Bentley is an award winning jazz/blues pianist, formerly based in Brisbane but now living on the Sunshine Coast. As well as being a drawcard in its own right, David’s jazz trio has backed touring jazz greats including vibraphonist Milt Jackson and saxophonist Phil Woods. The trio performs frequently at Brisbane Jazz Club and has appeared at music festivals including the Queensland Music Festival, the Brisbane Biennial, Crossbows, and Restrung.

Andrew Shaw is an in-demand Brisbane bassist and the bassist of choice not only for DB3 but for touring artists including US jazz stars like saxophonist Dave Liebman and guitarist John Scofield. Shaw performs in a diverse range of music from jazz to world music and classical.

Nathan Goldman is a tasty and swinging jazz drummer whose style defies easy categorisation. Prominent in the Brisbane jazz scene for the past 15 years, Nathan has performed with renowned interstate and overseas touring artists including Dale Barlow, Matthew Jodrell, James Sherlock and Hetty Kate as well as with Brisbane-based lineups including the West End Composer's Collective, Abbreviations Orchestra and the Enthusiastic Musicians Orchestra (EMO).

This is the first of a series of monthly jazz sessions with special guests.
