As part of the celebration of the 2016 Refugee Week this one-night event intertwines real stories with discussion and an interactive Melbourne Playback theatre performance.

The first half of the event will feature prominent refugee and asylum seeker advocates and those with firsthand experience in a Q&A panel that share their stories and welcome audience participation.

Pamela Curr
Refugee Rights Advocate at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Admitted to Victorian Women’s Honour Roll in 2009.

Mariam Issa
Human rights activist and cofounder of RAW (Resilient Aspiring Women), Ambassador of Peace Award winner and Ambassador for the Human Rights & Arts Film Festival.

Mustafa Najib
Former refugee and asylum seeker who arrived in Australia by boat in 2001 and was rescued by the ‘Tampa’. Community development worker, cultural advisor and interpreter.

Abdi Aden
Refugee, Author and was on ‘Go Back To Where You Came From’ Season 2 and ‘Insight’ on SBS. Refugee Council and Red Cross Ambassador.

With MC - Diana Nguyen
Melbourne Playback Theatre member and refugee/migrant youth worker, herself the daughter of a Vietnamese refugee.

The second half features short theatre performance from the acclaimed Melbourne Playback Theatre Company re-enacting the earlier session and learning from the outcomes.

This experience is for everyone, those who work with refugees and those that just want to understand more.
