Since the inception of The Wollongong Blues Club in 2013 we have strived to present top quality, Australian artists. Names such as Ray Beadle, Clayton Doley, Mal Eastick, Third Degree, Gail Page & Shane Pacey have graced the Blues Club’s stage and are synonymous with the best in Australian blues. This tradition continues on Dec 3 with the 2017 WBC Xmas Party featuring top female vocalist Liza Ohlback.

Liza has worked with some of the best Australian and overseas artists such as Tony Neville (Neville Brothers), Regina Valesquez, Richard Clapton, Ian Moss, Continental Robert Susz, Ray Beadle, Kevin Bennett and Jon Stevens of Noiseworks. More recently she has starred in “Pearl - The Janis Joplin Show”, a rockumentary about the life of Janis Joplin that has been touring to packed venues around the country.

After years on the Sydney circuit, Liza released her first original album entitled “Trouble Goin’ Down”. Her soul, jazz, and funk-laced blues tunes won her Best Female Vocalist, Best New Talent, & Best Producer with husband Greg Ohlback at The Australian Blues “Chain” Awards - as well as a nomination in the Dolphin Awards and a finalist in the MusicOz Awards. In November 2015 Liza released her followup CD “Give You Hell” to critical acclaim, reaching #2 and an eleven month stay on the Australian Blues Charts.

Liza has now been recognised as one of the top Female Blues/Jazz artists in Australia having played at Thredbo Blues, BluesFest, Manly Jazz, Australian Blues Music Festival, Blues On Broadbeach and Sydney Blues Festivals as well as The Basement, Lizottes, The Camelot Lounge and many other top city venues.

Joining Liza at Corrimal RSL will be one of Wollongong’s finest in former “Whose Muddy Shoes” guitarist Jeremy Edwards (with band), plus support from traditional blues duo “Doggn it”! Rumour has it that a guitar-playing Santa will be making a special guest appearance!
