Adelaide, let's Lock in the Love!

In 2016, the Heart Foundation will be asking all South Australians to Lock in the Love, by writing a message of love on Valentine’s Day for a good cause.

The giant Lock in the Love installation will be returning to the Garden of Unearthly Delights as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival from 11 February to 14 March 2016.

For a $10 donation, you can join the cause by writing a message for your loved one and then sharing on social media using our hashtag #lockinthelove.

Inspired by the British Heart Foundation’s Love concept, and leveraging the ‘padlocks on bridges’ phenomena made famous in Paris, the giant red installation will feature red padlocks and metal hearts.

Bringing the Love installation, which spans over 12 metres wide and 2 metres tall, to life has been a labour of love for many South Australian individuals and companies including prison door manufacturer, Lietzke Doors who built the installation.

Lock in the Love is a unique opportunity to write a message of love on the metal heart and lock it onto the sculpture to pledge their eternal love, remember a loved one, or mark a milestone.

Sadly with heart disease claiming nearly 20,000 Australian lives each year, too many of us understand the heart break of losing a loved one.

At the Heart Foundation, all of the research projects we fund are made possible by the generosity of everyday Australians who help us heal Australian hearts and keeps them beating well into the future.

To help ensure the installation is a success, we hope the community gets involved by locking in their love, volunteering at the installation or spreading the word to their friends– it’s a simple and rewarding way to help save lives from heart disease.

For more than 50 years, the Heart Foundation has been dedicated to saving Australian lives by making a difference to the heart health of all Australians. Donations from the community help us to fund vital research, develop guidelines for health professionals, support patient care and help Australians to live healthier lifestyles.
