After blasting onto the scene earlier this year with their critically acclaimed debut album Magnus are certainly not showing signs of slowing down with a new single and national tour on the way.

The bands latest offering “Ghost Town” is a darker sounding rock tune reminiscent of Iggy And The Stooges or early Queens Of The Stone Age and as Arne Heeres (vocals/guitar) explains “was written about a place that never was, ruled by cats that never cared". “Ghost Town” features the band’s trademark industrial chugging guitars, a technical riff based rhythm section and Arne Heeres’s powerful vocals. As the first new recording since their album release in March this year the new single came together while the band were rediscovering Iggy Pop.

“There's so much charm in being so direct and raw, almost devoid of any kind of ornamentation.” explains Heeres. The band decided to change things up when writing the music for Ghost Town purposely playing their instruments in the opposite way of what’s expected in a typical rock song as Heeres continues - “with Ghost Town I wanted to explore that most basic of interactions between three instruments.

What happens when you switch duties...During the verses the guitar is very basic & structured, taking over the role of the bass guitar, whereas the bass is totally free to do what it wants and so gives the swing & the melody. During the chorus, however, they switch around, the guitar leads & the bass follows.” To celebrate the release of “Ghost Town” MAGNUS are playing shows all over the country. Catch them bringing their unique style of oddly timed stoner Jazz-rock with a dash of Goth through September/October.
