Emptying the Bucket is a daring, interdisciplinary, live art dance work. Since antiquity, love has been a strong force of much art, literature, film, music and classical dance. This connects to an important question regarding how we see and feel love in our contemporary society and how this can be expressed through live art. By intercepting dance movement with visual art, live sound and light, this work interacts and playfully disturbs universal human emotions that are constructed through the physical body, in close connection with the space.

The work explores, surprises and engages the viewer through a complex and multi-faceted window to their own personal road of experience and arrives at the basic question: 'To what extent do we love and how – and can we ever stop loving someone?' The choreographic composition of the work creates a poetic, visual and visceral landscape, an obscure mood, with powerful absurd disconfiguration of what is fantasy and what is reality. The work reveals a multifaceted window of unexpected and intensely constructed spaces, which include multiple contents in which the dancers perform with rigor and conviction. Presented by Nebahat Erpolat as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
