Join us for a celebration of culture, music and dance at the New Beginnings: Refugee Arts & Culture Festival 2016.

The one-day festival at Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour will feature an eclectic mix of dance and music including performances from:

- Sydney World Music Chamber Orchestra: an 11-piece orchestra with artists from cultural backgrounds as diverse as their instruments
- Yasmin and Fanous: a talented Sudanese vocalist and songwriter
- Mythra Ensemble: a band that combines eastern modes with western harmonies
- Folkloric Group of the Iraqi Cultural Festival: a singing and dancing spectacular that showcases Iraqi music
- Inkumburwa Dance Group: a dance group that explores Rwandan culture through dance and rhythms
- Karen Dance Group: the folkloric dance group of the Australian Karen Organisation
- Varnas Dance Group: Tamil folk dance and Bollywood combined
- Lucky Africa Dance: leading an exciting drumming and dance workshop
- Heartdancers ‘Guwing Bayabuba’: a music, dance and yoga workshop led by Binowee, an Aboriginal musician and storyteller.

New Beginnings will also feature a range of fun workshops for the family; art and craft displays; and delicious food stalls showcasing Vietnamese, African, Middle Eastern and Sri Lankan cuisines. Check out the New Beginnings website for the full Darling Harbour line up.

The New Beginnings: Refugee Arts & Culture Festival 2016 is an initiative from Settlement Services International – a community-based, not-for-profit humanitarian organisation providing a range of services in the areas of humanitarian settlement, accommodation, asylum seeker assistance, multicultural foster care, disability support and employment services in NSW.
