The Pet Foundation with Petbarn hosts annual Pet Dating event at Petbarn Jindalee

It’s the season for love and while many people are focussed on finding a date this Valentine’s Day, The Pet Foundation together with Petbarn is encouraging Australians to open their hearts to a pet in need.

In time for the month of love, Petbarn Jindalee is hosting its annual Pet Dating event on Saturday 13th February at the store, as well as across more than 140 Petbarn stores nationally, whereby prospective pet parents are able to meet a number of loveable pets in need of a new home.

The aim of the event is to find forever homes for a number of pets that have previously been displaced. Importantly, The Pet Foundation aims to find long-term solutions for pets and pet parents, with the local Petbarn store partnering with the RSPCA Queensland.

Jodie Rigler, Store Manager, Petbarn Jindalee said: “We are passionate about helping pets find the perfect home. Pets give back so much in terms of the love and loyalty and they help us become better humans by teaching us patience and responsibility.

“Having a pet as part of your family is a wonderful experience and we’re glad to play a role in not only helping pets in need find new homes but in enriching the lives of Australians as they welcome a new member of the family to their homes,” said Jodie.

The event itself will run from approximately 11am-3pm and will involve between four and six pets including cats and kittens (the types of pets that are up for adoption may vary on the day). Last year over 210 pets nationally were re-homed as part of the Pet Dating event.

If people do find a perfect match they will be able to go through the pet adoption process in-store on the day. Most importantly, while the adoption fee set by the local charity is collected by Petbarn Adoptions, 100% of this fee is returned to the charity. All cats and dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated and micro-chipped before being brought into store.

Petbarn Adoptions is committed to responsible pet ownership and animal welfare all year round and while the Pet Dating event only occurs on Valentine’s Day, 90 Petbarn stores have in-store Pet Adoption Centres that are always open.
