We are very excited for this special edition of Picnic Social – it may be one of the best line-ups yet.

We know our pretty city is chock-a-block full of talent so we’ve been searching Sydney high & low for the best. Live electronic acts. This Sunday we proudly present to you James i.V.

James i.V (aka Angus Mills) has been seen around town playing records with, and supporting his talented mates as part of Percussion Lock as well as under his own moniker. If you were lucky enough to catch the 'Funky Nassau' show earlier this year at 107 Projects, you know what you’re in for. Experimental club explorations strongly influenced by his background as a sound designer, his music is reliant on melodic and harmonic repetition with roots in dub and techno. An all-around lovely dude with talent for days – come watch James i.V for free.

Spinnin’ support is TGMN. An old friend of James i.V and another member of the sadly defunct but ever popular Percussion Lock, TGMN is a regular behind Sydney turntables. Over the years, he’s supported the likes of Answer Code Request, Blanck Mass, Kangding Raying Ray & Lee Gamble. With a ridiculous record collection and groovy moves behind the decks, TGMN never ever disappoints when he turns out to do the thing.

Freda has made waves in Sydney over the last 12 months; Putting out a string of releases through new Sydney imprint Moonshoe including a handful of collaborations with Oedura and label-honcho Jackson. Freda’s roots are embedded in Jazz, hip-hop and rock with him playing in various bands for over 10 years as a drummer. He cites influences as Art Blakely, Fela Kuti, Boards Of Canada, Max Graef, Christopher Rau and Soulphiction to name a few.

If you missed Sam Weston’s EP release this year you may need to pop your head out from under that rock. Shiraz Voyager made everyone sit up and pay attention to the talent emerging from Sydney and we’re stoked to have him playing for Picnic Social. You can purchase his dreamy, sophisticated house tracks on the bandcamp link below. They’ve been described as a rabbit hole worth going down.

Add Jon Watts to the mix and this Sunday at Cake Wines looks like a no brainer. His music tastes are nice & broad so it’ll be anyone’s guess what he plays for us on Sunday! We were his neighbour once and would spend days in the backyard listening to him mix so trust us he’s pretty bloody good.

Put it in your calendars - from 3pm til 10pm.

It’s going to be real special (and free).
