Epilepsy Awareness - Canberra's Telstra Tower will be shining bright with the colour purple on Saturday 26th March. Why, I hear you ask. Purple Day is a grassroots effort dedicated to raising awareness about epilepsy worldwide.

Epilepsy Action Australia is once again embracing Purple Day to encourage Australians to raise much needed epilepsy awareness, and funds, through Purple Day fundraising activities. How can you help raise epilepsy awareness? Some community ideas are Purple Day morning tea, purple cupcake sale, sausage sizzle (Bunnings have a sausage sizzle program), awareness stall with a raffle in your local shopping centre. School ideas are - Mufti day (wear and/or accessories in purple), purple cupcakes & face painting for a donation. Business: wear purple to work and organise a morning tea including purple cupcakes. Here are a few fun fundraising idea too - bike ride/walk/run/swim, gala dinner, book fair, sporting match, quiz/trivia competition, sausage sizzle, auction, raffle, scrabble/ monopoly/poker tournament, and I'm sure there are many more.

The funds Epilepsy Action Australia acquires from Purple Day will go towards providing education and support services across Australia to people living with epilepsy, their families and community and professional groups. If you would like to help Epilepsy Action Australia and fundraise, contact them on 1300 37 45 37 or go to their website for more information on Purple Day. Thank you Canberra and Telstra Tower!
