Salvo Appeal shows joy is in the giving.
Now in its seventh year, The Salvation Army Santa Stocking Appeal is being held at Karrinyup Shopping Centre from 1st – 24th December, encouraging the community to experience the true joy of Christmas by giving to those in need.

The Appeal aims to collect 1,000 new toys and gifts, 1,000 food items and over $5,000 to assist The Salvation Army’s crisis centres in Perth in the lead up to Christmas.

The Salvation Army Public Relations Secretary, Warren Palmer, said the organisation expected to assist as many as 300,000 people over the Christmas and New Year period and urgently needed community support to do so.

“It is a sad reality that many West Australians have nothing to eat, nowhere to sleep and face various other forms of hardship. For them, celebrating Christmas is impossible.

“This time of year, making a donation to the Santa Stocking Appeal is a small gesture which can make a huge difference to those in need. It is also a great reminder of the true spirit of Christmas,” said Mr Palmer.

The Salvation Army volunteers will be selflessly giving up their time to collect donated items (unwrapped) in the Fresh Food Mall near Woolworths at Karrinyup Shopping Centre leading up to Christmas. Additional volunteers, with two hours to spare, are being sought by The Salvation Army.
