Our third InkFest, a festival of printmaking, is on again this year! As well as the InkMasters Print Exhibition and the Big Print event, InkFest will again host weekend workshops in a range of mediums. This is a great opportunity to explore or extend your interest in printmaking under the guidance of our nationally known artists-in-residence and professional InkMaster printmakers. The workshops are ideal for emerging and professional printmakers as well as artists in other disciplines who wish to extend their skills.

The print you create in the workshop will be included in “New Works from InkFest 2016 Workshops” exhibition at the Tanks, adjacent to the international InkMasters Print Exhibition 29 Jul-21 Aug 16.

Hannah Parker is a gifted InkMaster professional printmaker of many years’ experience, who has shared her skills in a range of print mediums across the region, since moving to Cairns some years ago. She is very well known for her teaching and custom printing skills, and exhibits her own work regularly in solo and group shows.

Screen printing is a printing technique where a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a surface such as paper or fabric except in areas using a stencil-like process. Like most print processes, screen printing can be varied and complex. The aim of this weekend workshop is to explore some basic techniques that will allow you to print independently using minimum equipment of screen and the squeegee.
