We are looking for the next generation of Sprint Kayak superstars! We will be conducting physical testing to see if you have what it takes.

Peninsula athletes have represented Australia in close to 100 times at the Junior World Sprint and Junior Olympic Hopefuls Regattas - all from one small program. The program is now run entirely by the Sydney Northern Beaches Kayak Club. The Australian Sports Commission has recognised this program as one of the most successful talent identification programs ever conducted in Australia.

We are once again about to start the search for young talent for the 2017 squad. We have targeted local schools looking for children in years 6, 7 & 8 though we will look at older children if they have an extensive background in sports such as swimming or surf lifesaving. These youngsters would be able to represent Australia at the Junior World Championships and Olympic Hopefuls Regattas from 2017 onward.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for fit young boys and girls who love the water. Generally they will be slightly larger than their peers and will have a good aerobic capacity (endurance).

How to get involved:
Young potential athletes who would like to try out for this program will need to attend the testing morning where we will look at a number of physiological parameters such as general fitness, arm span, and strength.

If you think you have what it takes why not give it a try. Have you ever dreamed of representing your country at Junior or Senior level culminating in an Olympic Games? Give this a try. Small participant numbers means your chances of success are greatly enhanced.
