The State Library of WA will be hosting this free photographic exhibition “Unfinished Business – stories from Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People with Disability.”

The exhibition consists of thirty 3D backlit photographic portraits of the participants plus a narrative-style video interview of each participant. The photographer is Belinda Mason and the interviews were produced by Dieter and Liam Knierim, with music by Robert Dann.

Unfinished Business was first launched in September 2013 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. The exhibition coincided with the 24th Session of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a body within the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. In December 2013 the exhibition was displayed at the World Health Organisation Headquarters in Geneva.

Unfinished Business was a part of Australia’s official contribution to the United Nations 2014 World Conference on Indigenous Persons and was displayed at the Museum of Tolerance in New York. This was supported by the Australian Government through Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The State Library of Western Australia is proud to be the only Western Australian venue to host Unfinished Business. Four West Australians are featured in the exhibition including June Oscar AO, a West Australian of Bunuba descent.

The exhibition runs from 2 April to 3 June 2016
