The Hornsby based craft group, Wheel ‘n’ Weft, formed in 1976 and this year we celebrate our 40th birthday. The group raises money for charity and this year it is supporting the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter.

The Wheel ‘n’ Weft members have a passion for creating unique and beautiful handmade arts and crafts including ceramics, glass, jewellery, paintings, feltwork, needlework, decorations, home wares, cards, bags, toys, woodwork, sweets and preserves.

Wheel ‘n’ Weft’s next exhibition and sale is at Thornleigh Community Centre on 28th October – 30th October. This Christmas-themed exhibition will include handcrafted gifts, decorations, cards and gourmet foods. Admission is $5 which includes light refreshments.

The group is also thrilled to welcome Hazel Ghisla as a guest exhibitor. Hazel Ghisla of Hazel Ghisla Designs has been a milliner for more than 10 years.

She has participated in Master Classes with Australian and Internationally renowned milliners such as Tracy Chaplin of France, Eugenie van Oirschot of the Netherlands, Lina Stein of Ireland, Phillip Rhodes and Jane Stoddart of Australia and many more. These millinery skills plus her sewing and craft expertise have helped her create stunning hats and fascinators.

Hazel has been commissioned to make Mother of the Bride hats and fascinators, which have been worn in Paris, Holland and London as well as here in Australia. Just recently her hats have been for sale and worn at the Thoroughbred Event’s Spring Carnival fashion parade at the Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel. To see more of her work, log on to her Facebook page: Hazel Ghisla Designs".

She will have a range of her creations on display and available for sale at the Wheel ‘n’ Weft exhibition – perfect timing for the upcoming spring racing carnival.
