Women of Empire 1914-1919 is a unique international exhibition that tells the stories of Australian and New Zealand women in the First World War using original costume from the period. Since February 2015 it has been seen by some 600,000 people in Australia and New Zealand and this will be the first time that any of the exhibition has been seen in Queensland. In 2018 it is planned for the full exhibition to be in Queensland and as a precursor to this the exhibition's Curator has chosen a selection of costumes and stories for the exhibition at the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds where it will be part of the biannual Way We Wear Frock Up Brisbane event. Women of Empire 1914-1919 Exhibition shows that not all heroes of the First World War work khaki.
