You, your family and friends are invited to the opening of my latest exhibition 'Celebrating Life In the Channel Country'.

Lyn Barnes' Latest Works: Celebrating Life In the Channel Country
This exhibition of Lyn’s latest works not only opens a window to the instantly recognisable scenery of big skies, red earth and waterholes of the great inland river systems but also illustrates the lifestyle of Channel Country people through depictions of social gatherings and still life.

The small town of Quilpie lies on the edge of the region famously known as the Channel Country and is home to well known outback artist Lyn Barnes. In her Eagle Gallery studio Lyn produces vibrant oil and pastel works which reflect the diversity of the Channel Country landscape and the resilience of its inhabitants.

This is Lyn’s fifteenth annual exhibition at Graydon Gallery and the opening night scheduled this year for 9 August has become very much part of Brisbane’s Ekka Week Activities.

The exhibition will also showcase:
Mary Donnelly: Birds of Flight and Fancy
In this exhibition, Mary has chosen to focus on bird life of every shape, size and variety. The gentle forms of the bird life, combine with ancient rocks and discarded iron artifacts to complete pieces that result in unique and comfortable meldings of old and new.

The rocks marry the sculptures to the Australian landscape, the iron evokes memories of a bygone era, and the creatures awaken feelings of hope and playfulness. This is Mary’s third exhibition with Lyn, and she once again looks forward to complementing Lyn's art by presenting a sculptural showcase reflective of Australian life and culture.
