Greenwich Village Arts Trail is an open studio weekend event showcasing local artists in the small harbourside suburb of Greenwich. The arts trail is a rare opportunity for visitors to experience an artist’s work environment, to ask questions and to purchase artwork directly from an artist. Now in its 6th year with a record 26 artists, the community event is growing in stature as word spreads about the quality of work on display. A fantastic variety of artworks at 19 sites across Greenwich include paintings in acrylic and oil, watercolours and pastels, sculptures, pottery, woodwork, jewellery, textiles and photographs.

While some of the artists on the trail have been selected and won prizes in a number of prestigious art shows, there is also quality artworks from a range of aspiring artists, including a retired architect showing his eclectic paintings for the first time ever, having painted for many years in the 'privacy of his cellar’ and a commercial photographer ‘unleashing his creative spirit' to display his abstract side.
And on the other hand, some artists have been showing for many years—one resident has been potting and selling her wares for decades—her studio is a well-loved space, always full of visitors and always a sell-out, as all the proceeds go to the charity Mahboba’s Promise for Afghan women and children.

Accessible by ferry, train or bus, Greenwich is an idyllic place to walk, with food, drinks and picnic spots available along the trail. New this year is a shuttle bus to transport visitors from one end of the suburb to the other.

Catch a ferry, train or bus, and make a day of it. Food, drinks and harbourside picnic spots are available all along the trail plus a great opportunity to stock up on gifts for Christmas. Credit cards are accepted at some studios. Maps available at the Greenwich local shops, FB or Greenwich Village Arts Trail website.
