Melbourne’s most exciting playwrights bare-all for reimagined play reading festival.

Beta Fest: Theatre In Various States of Undress, is a bold reinvention of play reading festivals as we know them, celebrating the creative process of new Australian theatre.

Scenes, excerpts and early drafts by Melbourne’s most daring writers will be presented in two concurrent streams – directed by Marcel Dorney and Beng Oh – culminating each night in an outdoor summer hub with music, food, drink and conversation at Siteworks in Brunswick.

Beta Fest exposes the often-isolated journey of new writing, presenting glimpses of raw ideas before they are smoothed out over years of development and dramaturgy.

Featuring new writing by Tom Holloway, Rachel Perks, Katy Warner, Emma Hall, Fleur Kilpatrick and more!

Directed by Marcel Dorney and Beng Oh
Produced by Lonely Company and Anna Kennedy
Producer Intern and Graphic Design by Imogen Walsh

**Tickets are priced on a sliding scale, starting at just $10 for a 1 x Day Festival Pass and $15 for a Full Festival Pass. In an attempt to make theatre affordable for everyone, Lonely Company asks that you merely pay what you are able to.

About Lonely Company:

Lonely Company is an initiative by playwrights and dramaturges Fleur Kilpatrick, Bridget Mackey and Morgan Rose that helps playwrights develop the beginning of an idea into a full script. They aim to create a space where writers feel supported in their work in what can sometimes be an alienating industry.

Lonely Company is founded on two core beliefs about playwriting:
- That playwriting is lonelier than a collaborative art form should be.
- That we trust playwrights to know what creative process works for them.

Lonely Company acknowledge the Kulin nation and the traditional custodians of the land on which we work. We pay our respects to local Elders and to the Elders, past and present, of all communities and cultures across Victoria. We acknowledge that these lands have been stolen, that sovereignty has never been ceded and that this always was, always will be, aboriginal land.
