Finally, something fun and creative that parents (or grandparents aunties or uncles) and kids can do together. By the end of the workshop you’ll have learned new skills in wheel throwing pottery and a make one or two pots to keep.

Who can enrol?

Adults and children in their care can attend these sessions together. Children should be over 6 years old. Each person attending, whether a child or an adult, will need to be enrolled and pay the class fee. Children over 10 years are welcome to enrol without a parent.

What to expect

In this workshop, students will:

- be introduced to the principles of making ceramics on a pottery wheel
- learn the fundamental techniques of wheel throwing including centring and shaping
- practise throwing simple cylinders

What should I wear?

- Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you are relaxed about getting clay on.
- Best to wear comfortable pants/trousers as you’ll sit close to the wheel as you throw.
- Bring an apron and old hand towel

- Will my vessels be fired?

Kiln firing is included the fee for up to 2 vessels per person. You will need to return to collect these (we will let you know then). You’ll also have the opportunity to glaze your fired vessels.
