A charitable fundraiser to support Victorian schools Christmas Back Pack appeal for the children of Koro Island in Fiji. The remote maritime island of 4,500 people was totally devastated during the category five tropical cyclone Winston in 2016. A total of 22 lives were lost and hundreds of people were severely injured and left without shelter, food and water for two weeks before aid arrived on the island.

The island community lost their livelihood, homes, schools and infrastructure, which has adversely affected their habitual lifestyle. Families are still in tent accommodations and children attend schools in tented classrooms, which gets extremely warm and humid in tropical weather and flooded during heavy downpour. The children have gone through challenging times, with most children still suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Victorian schools in affiliation with Reach 4 Your Future Foundation (an Australian Charities and Not for Profit Educational Foundation) have been engaged in a collaborative partnership with schools on the island to assist children and teachers with social and emotional learning programs. This Christmas the Victorian Schools have come together to appeal for 600 back packs to be gifted to the island children during a Christmas Carols event on the Island on the 21st of Dec.

The Christmas Carols High Tea on Nov 25th will bring together children, parents, teachers and the Victorian community for a Christmas Carols performance by the Victorian schools choir. An afternoon of traditional Windsor high tea, will be served with Windsor's famous scones, cakes, sandwiches, and puddings with a selection of chocolates, coffee and tea. You will be warmly greeted on arrival with a glass of Champaign.

The afternoon will feature over $5,000.00 valued prized items to be auctioned, raffled and as door prizes. Australian Football League Premiership Club Jumper and a Donald Brandan Bronze statute will be the two most alluring prizes to go under the hammer to raise funds for this worthy initiative by Victorian School Children.

Tickets are limited, so why not Join us at the event and be part of a program to bring a change and smile to 600 children on the Island of Koro in Fiji this Christmas.
