Day-walkers can catch three of the deadliest Hip Hop Artists in Australia Jimblah, Philly, and Lady Lash for Hip Hop Hooray – Deadly Style; an afternoon show that promises to be dope and will close the Leaps and Bounds Music Festival program for 2017.

With three exceptional performers taking to the Melba Spiegeltent stage, Hip Hop Hooray will feature Producer and MC Jimblah past winner the inaugural Hilltop Hoods Initiative in 2007, triple j Unearthed Feature Artist of the Week. Hailing from Larrakia Nation in Top End Northern Territory, Jimblah has toured nationally supporting the likes of fellow Elefant Traks artists Urthboy and Horrorshow.

Joining Jimblah is the winner of the 2015 National Indigenous Music Awards ‘New Talent of the Year’ category, Philly who was invited to perform his breathtaking rendition of Bob Marley’s Three Little Bird for Triple J's Like a Version. Having released his first EP – Dreamchaser, Philly has now signed with Briggs’ new all Indigenous record label – Bad Apples Music.

Bringing her own style of rap and spoken word to the afternoon is Crystal Clyne aka Lady Lash, proud Kokatha/Greek Woman, who won both the Victorian Indigenous Performer Award for Most Promising Act and the Age Music Victoria Genre Award for ‘Songlines Best Indigenous Act’ in 2013, and was nominated for ‘Best Aboriginal Act’ for The Age Music Victoria Awards in 2016. Lady Lash has opened for the likes of Archie Roach, Paul Kelly, Dan Sultan, and Paris Wells amongst many other big time acts.

Together, the trio will close the 2017 Sounds of Winter program with a party that’ll blow the roof off the Melba Spiegeltent.
