Natural Cordage Workshop with Elizabeth Graves.

Join us for a unique workshop with all proceeds being donated to The Welcome Dinner Project and Lentil as Anything, both work to bring people together over food, building stronger communities.

Addicted to craft? Love creating with natural fibres and home-made decorations? Then we have the perfect workshop for you! Twist and twirl your creativity into learning to make natural cordage. What is that you ask? Simply put, cordage is thread, string or rope made from natural, foraged fibres. It's a beautiful, slow craft reconnecting you with mother earth.

Join artist Elizabeth Graves as she shares her knowledge and how-to techniques of this traditional craft. You’ll also learn how to identify suitable fibres and where to go foraging on your own.

Along with a zillion uses in the bush, natural cordage also makes the perfect Australian Christmas decoration for your home. Adorn your cordage with foraged treasures to make ‘bush tinsel’, use it as twine to wrap Christmas gifts, or as a display for your Christmas cards.

Participants will be provided with all materials to make basic cordage and shells to get you started making eco garlands for Christmas.

Essential information:

All proceeds go to The Welcome Dinner Project and Lentil As Anything.

Since 2013, The Welcome Dinner Project has connected newly arrived people: asylum seekers, migrants, refugees and international students with established Australians over pot-luck meals in a local host's home.
