Dustyesky—thirty men from Mullumbimby—have met every Tuesday night at the RSL for 3 years, to share a beer and sing Russian songs. For the first time, the choir is bringing their show to Melba Spiegeltent as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival. Performing Red Army and folk songs in four-part harmonies with gusto and élan, Dustyesky have amazed crowds at Woodford Folk Festival, Mullum Music Festival, Falls Festival and become festival icons with their extraordinary voices, dapper looks and sweltering charm. The choir have been deemed the most handsome Russian male choir to be seen in the South.

Musical Director Comrade Swainsky (aka Andrew Swain) says: “You can always spot a Russian in our audience – they know the words and sing with us, tears streaming down their cheeks…” Their repertoire features the Russian National Anthem, Orchy Chornye, The Red Army Is The Strongest and Kalinka, along with lesser known show-stoppers. They sing with love and respect the songs but not without a rich vein of humour and vitality running throughout their shows.
