No-one does heart-on-the-sleeve honesty like Tchaikovsky. In his enduringly popular Fourth Symphony, the iron hand of Fate looms over the tenderness of the human heart. Adelaide favourite Li-Wei Qin, armed with only a cello, leads the desperate fight against a similar shadow of doom in Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto.

Presented by Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
