Flinders Quartet (FQ) is instantly recognisable as one of Australia’s most loved chamber music ensembles. A quartet for the twenty-first century, FQ continues its second decade with acknowledged musical skill and maturity.

The group’s dynamic and stirring performances of a full spectrum of repertoire make them a highly respected force in Australian chamber music.

Richard Mills - String Quartet No. 4 Glimpses from my book of Dada
Franz Schubert - Winterreise (a selection) arranged for string quartet by Calvin Bowman.
Franz Schubert - String Quartet in D minor D.810 Death and the Maiden

Each of the works in this program tell vivid, fantastical stories. From latte drinking airheads to a little girl having a conversation with Death, the myriad of colours produced by the string quartet are the perfect narrative tool.

Calvin Bowman re-imagines Schubert’s seminal work, Winterreise, with these colours in mind, celebrating Schubert’s ongoing relevance and influence in 21st century Australia.

“Their shading, rhythmic pliability and tautness of ensemble are impeccable.” - Limelight Magazine
