Leading retirement provider Aveo Group is set to officially unveil the first stage of its $220 million Newcastle development with a grand opening event.

Eighty percent of the 50 properties in Aveo Newcastle’s Stage 1 have sold, which comprises two-bedroom independent living villas priced from $399,000. The $24 million first phase also includes a world-class community centre that will be at the heart of the retirement village.

Kicking off at the new community centre from 10:00am, Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor Nuatali Nelmes and Aveo’s CEO Geoff Grady will be attending for a ribbon cutting ceremony and unveiling of the plaque to officially open the first phase of Aveo Newcastle.

Aveo’s Executive General Manager of Integrated Retirement Communities Jason Eldering will also be joining to mingle with guests.

The free event will provide a perfect opportunity for the public to view and celebrate the beginning of the master-planned retirement community and will include live music entertainment featuring Kristy Coote, a roaming magician, face painting and caricature drawing. There will be a variety of food trucks available including Hennessey Coffee and Crafty Street East, a charity BBQ and wine tasting from Inner City Winemakers.

As well as being invited to enjoy the entertainment and refreshments, visitors will also have a chance to sit in on informational sessions which will include:

- The journey to retirement
- Care and support
- Good food and nutrition

The three-level community hub will provide Aveo residents with health and wellbeing facilities including a gymnasium, resident function rooms, lounge areas and recreational areas. Guests will be able to tour all that the community has to offer.
