Greg Poppleton is Australia's only authentic 1920s–1930s singer. The real deal. Swinging, rollicking and high energy. Totally uninfluenced by contemporary music, his passion for classic jazz goes back to age three when he saw Louis Armstrong on TV.

With Greg in The Basement at the Builders Club at 61 Church St Wollongong, Sunday 22 October, he will be:
- Grahame Conlon (Spanish guitar and banjo)
- Dave Clayton (double bass)
- Damon Poppleton (alto and soprano sax)

Greg has thrilled audiences at the Gin Mill Social, Rocks Village Bizarre, Sydney Festival, Waiheke International Jazz Festival, Thredbo Jazz, Glen Street Theatre Jazz Festival, Canberra Centenary, Sydney Jazz Club, Foundry 616, Vanguard, Blue Beat and many more venues.

In Wollongong he's played many times at The Builders Club, and also for the Illawarra Jazz Club at their 30th JazzFest, Supper Club and full-house Saturday Jazz at the Corrimal Hotel.

An award-winning swing and jazz broadcaster on 107.3 2SER and 22 radio stations Australia-wide, Greg has played opposite some of Hollywood’s Academy Award and Golden Globe winners in motion pictures including Adrien Brody, John Goodman and Nicole Kidman.

He was called back for the band leader role in Baz Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby and is currently on TV in 3 popular commercials. ‘They Didn’t Believe Me’ from Greg’s new album ‘Back In Your Own Backyard’ was in contention for the soundtrack of a new German-Israeli movie co-production, The Cake Maker.

Greg Poppleton has released four albums. His second and fourth albums, 'Doin' The Charleston' and 'Back In Your Own Backyard' received the rare distinction for an independent jazz album—it was played by Bob Rogers on Sydney commercial radio.

Swinging, authentic and great to dance to, Greg Poppleton's return to The Basement, Wollongong Builders Club, is a fun afternoon that is also kid friendly.

Play 2:30–5:30pm.
