Gracing the candlelit warehouse space of Hibernian House for the first time on 11 November, Handkerchief Thief will be launching the second single, 'Hanging On', from his upcoming debut EP ‘Hunting For Hummingbirds’ in a stripped back solo performance. Joining him on stage are two of Sydney’s most exciting singer/songwriters: Oly Sherman and Brendon Moon.

August 2017 saw Handkerchief Thief, the moniker of Melbourne-based artist Sam McLaren, release his very first musical offering to the world: debut single ‘Salted Skin’. Drawing accolades from music blogs in all corners of the globe, the single was described by one US music blog as "without a doubt one of the best musical debuts I’ve heard, I am really debating if it is not the best (Wolf in a Suit)."

Following on from the success of ‘Salted Skin’, Handkerchief Thief’s second single ‘Hanging On’ is an emotional epic that draws upon McLaren's close encounters with death and the dying while working in hospitals. The intimacy of Hibernian House will provide the perfect ambiance for Handkerchief Thief’s unique brand of indie-folk, performing songs from the upcoming debut EP in their raw elemental form, just a guitar and McLaren’s trademark voice, traversing haunting depths and soaring to angelic falsetto heights.

“His gentle, versatile and emotional voice is simply captivating. It’ll leave a room silent for sure.” -
Claire Mooney, Triple J Unearthed

After releasing his first single, ‘Push Me Down’ in September 2016, Oly Sherman’s flair has become a regular listen on both Triple J and Triple J Unearthed radio. Sydney has always been a ‘musical smorgasboard’ for new talent in a variety of genres and Oly’s music is no exception to that tradition. Following in the footsteps of Matt Corby, The Paper Kites, and James Blake, Oly’s music reflects the expressive and gentle nature it takes to be a captivating artist.

Brendon Moon is an indie and ambient artist hailing from Sydney's inner west. Having launched into the scene with a sound like no other, Moon's ability to conjure dream like states through his wondrous voice and lush guitar tones has garnered him a reputation for incredible performances.

This is a rare opportunity to see three great artists in the beautiful, intimate space that is Hibernian House. Tickets are strictly limited so get in quick!
