Live and Local – Christmas In the Mall

Sat 2 Dec 2017, 12:00pm–8:00pm

Where: Macquarie Mall, Macquarie St, Liverpool, New South Wales

Restrictions: All Ages

Liverpool City Council is showcasing local talent as part of its annual Christmas festivities in Macquarie Mall, with musicians playing in shop fronts along the Mall.

Some of the best up and comers in Western Sydney will provide the musical backdrop for an afternoon of Christmas-themed markets and games. Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller is proud to see Council working with Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre Youth on the event, which runs from midday to 9pm.

“We’ll have some amazingly talented young people in our region and we’re proud to be able to offer this opportunity to perform to a wide audience,” Mayor Waller said.

“We have musicians performing all along the mall, at different shop fronts. It’s going to create a wonderful atmosphere for the day.”

Garden Games, a perennial favourite in Liverpool, will provide entertainment for the little ones, along with a pop-up Library.

“The highlight of the event will come at 8.30pm, when we light up the giant Christmas tree,” Mayor Waller said.

“It’s always lovely to see the twinkling lights and the Liverpool City Brass Band will provide their own brand of Christmas cheer.”

On the day, there will be a free photo booth, Christmas programing on the Urban Screen and the man in red himself—Santa Claus.

This event is supported by the Live Music Office and Create NSW. Live Music Office Director John Wardle said the Live Music Office was excited to see Christmas in the Mall.

“The program being prepared for 2 December for Christmas in the Mall is shaping up to be a milestone in the contemporary music calendar in Western Sydney,” he said.

“The Live Music Office is really thrilled to see just how well Liverpool City Council are working with their musicians and businesses through the Live and Local program, creating opportunities for Western Sydney artists to build their careers and repertoire, and connect with the wider music industry.”
