Matty James was born with a talent for words and melodies, this he has dedicated his life to up until today. Born and raised in Liverpool in England, his passion for music was crafted and built upon from a young age, writing songs from the age of 14. With his band, The Endings, he wrote more than fifty songs and gained a good tribe of people that would follow them and support them no matter what, however in 2013 things soured within the band and Matty then decided to end it. Though everyone went their separate ways, Matty sought solace through word-smithing and crafting compositions in his bedroom.

Intensely working on his craft and multiple factors leading to a shortage of gigs in Liverpool, he decided to relocate to Brisbane in 2014. While on his way out to Australia for a second time in 2015, he was playing piano in an airport in Manchester and an armed Police officer joined in singing an Oasis song, consequently people filmed it and the video went viral on Facebook, amassing over 2 million views and it being shown on mainstream news. Since then, he has written and recorded many songs and demos and in 2017 decided after a long time of gigging in hotels across the Brisbane region to record an EP of some of his songs which were written in Brisbane.

Powerful melodic indie reminiscent of bands such as; The Strokes, The Kooks and Oasis, fused together to create a wonderful pop driven indie sound. Driving guitars, nursery rhyme melodies and catchy hooks is a concoction that could only come out of someone who was brought up in the still epicentre of indie music and the birthplace of Popular Music itself. Though many would like to say that the modern guitar band is dead, Matty is still holding a torch for the guitar world and is driving it’s sound back into popular music. If there was a revolution for young guitar music, Matty James is Che Guevara fighting on the frontline.
