Penrith Symphony Orchestra opens their 2017 musical season under the baton of Paul Terracini, with a program celebrating the grandeur of the Romantic era.

Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4, ‘Romantic’, premiered in 1881 after numerous revisions, at the height of the Romantic movement in European art. The ambitious nature of the work and grand emotive scope have placed it firmly within the repertoire of the great nineteenth century symphonies. No. 4 was the first of the Austrian composers symphonies to be rapturously received.

As one of the great pianists of his time, Mendelssohn lavished his score to Piano Concerto No. 1 with passages of luminous virtuosity for the solo pianist. Performing the Concerto is rising star and winner of the 2016 Conservatorium High School Concerto Competition, Dana Lee.

The program commences with the bustling energy of Mozart’s Overture to the Opera, Il Seraglio.
