In 2017, Midsumma Festival is celebrating new art and queer cultures through Midsumma Horizon, and Feb 4 will see outdoor venue Testing Grounds – known for its creative risk-taking – transform into a queer arts party.

Midsumma Horizon will feature some of Melbourne’s most experimental artists and explore and celebrate the queer arts space. The event is a glimpse into what a queer future could look like.

As well as a range of live performance and visual arts, Midsumma Horizon will feature online art-project QueerTech.io. The revolutionary data-projections will not only enhance the future-focussed art party, but will also showcase some of the QueerTech.io online exhibition. Alison Bennett, Travis Cox, Xanthe Dobbie and Mark Payne- members of the QueerTech.io artist collective have invited artists from around the globe to help contribute their art projects and continue the #queertech conversation. This will be on display at Midsumma Horizon.

Celebrate the often-volatile space that queer arts occupies, bring your phone and stroke its screen to enhance the QueerTech.io experience, and come to Midsumma Horizon on Saturday Feb 4 from 6-11pm at Testing Grounds.

The full program will be announced in January. Visit the Midsumma Festival website for more information.
