Pack your bags and join Chimera Ensemble on a trip to Europe when they present a concert of expressive and exuberant trios by Spanish, Czech and French composers, including Granados’ Intermezzo de L’Opera ‘Goyescas’, Turina’s Circulo Op.91, Martinu’s Bergerettes, and Ravel’s Piano Trio in A minor.
Each trio was composed during the early 20th Century when composers brought new spontaneity and colour to music and were influenced by Eastern European, Spanish and French folk music and jazz harmonies. These trios overflow with languid, sensuous melodies, which contrast with dynamic folk rhythms, and shimmering, evocative textures.
They reflect the words of Ravel, who said: "Great music...must come from the heart. Any music created by technique and brains alone is not worth the paper it is written on.”
Chimera Ensemble’s piano trio features accomplished Perth musicians Rebecca Glorie, violin, Melinda Forsythe, cello and Tommaso Pollio, piano.
Afternoon tea is included in the ticket price.
