Burning Man (2011)
Guest speaker, Writer/Director, Jonathan Teplitzky
From Burning Man to The Railway Man, a local to an international film directing career and working across these different industries.

As part of Waverley Council's Screen Citizens program series, we are celebrating Australian film and local Bondi/Waverley film makers. Film discussions will be hosted by film critic, Peter Castaldi.

Burning Man tells the story of Tom, a British chef in a Bondi restaurant, who after the death of his wife, lives recklessly and angrily in his grief. His son, Oscar is left as a casualty of his mother’s death and his father’s irresponsible behaviour. This is a film about friends, family and a man himself trying to piece life back together after grief.

Cast includes: Matthew Goode, Essie Davis, Rachel Griffiths, Kerry Fox, Gia Carides, Marta Dusseldorf

Jonathan Teplitzky is an Australian writer and film director whose works include 'Better than Sex' (2000), 'Gettin' Square' (2003), 'Burning Man' (2011) 'The Railway Man' (2013) with Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth and 'Churchill' (2017). Jonathan won a BAFTA Award in 1993.

Jonathan will skype in from overseas to join Peter Castaldi on stage to talk about the making of the film and his own journey from local to international film maker.

Stay around for a drink and a chat at the Bondi Pavilion Bar overlooking Bondi Beach after the screening and the talk.
