The Eye of The Storm (2011)
Guest speaker, Producer Antony Waddington
The significance of passion projects and smaller films and why we make them.

As part of Waverley Council's Screen Citizens program series, we are celebrating Australian film and local Bondi/Waverley film makers. Film discussions will be hosted by film critic, Peter Castaldi.

The Eye of the Storm is an Australian drama film, directed by Fred Schepisi and shot on location at Centennial Park. It is an adaptation of Australian author Patrick White’s 1973 novel of the same name. The story centres around a dying matriarch who despite her declining health, continues to wield considerable control over her affairs and those around her including her adult children who have come to visit their deteriorating mother.

Cast includes: Geoffrey Rush, Charlotte Rampling and Judy Davis.

The Eye of the Storm won Best Production Design, Best Costume Design and Best Actress at the AACTA Awards, The Melbourne International Film Festival/Age Critics’ Award for Best Australian Feature Film and the Jury Special Prize at the Rome International Film Festival.

Antony Waddington has produced the documentaries 'Endurance' (2017), 'Spirits of the Carnival' (1996), the feature film 'The Eye of the Storm' (2011) amongst other short documentary films.

Antony will join Peter Castaldi on stage after the screening to talk about the making of the film and the importance of passion projects in the Australian film industry.

Stay around for a drink and chat at the Bondi Pavilion Theatre bar overlooking Bondi Beach after the screening and talk.
