Whether you have a tiny balcony garden, a sprawling backyard jungle, or you just dig all things green, Spring into Gardening is the perfect place for inspiration and tips on gardening and sustainable living.

Costa Georgiadis from ABC’s Gardening Australia returns to host this year’s one-day event. The festival features free workshops, expert demonstrations, hands-on kids’ activities, a pop-up tiny house, a clothes swap, market stalls and food trucks to help you start planting and preparing your garden for summer.

Now in its fifth year, The New Joneses’ multi-award lifestyle showcase will be popping up with their brand new tiny house. It’s a funny, entertaining and inspirational look at how everyday lifestyle choices can create a healthier, happier future for our planet.

Bring along your gardening and composting questions and join us for an interactive Q&A session, ‘Let’s Talk About Compost’ with Costa. Then learn how to create your very own tinctures and balms with naturopath Reece Carter, author of The Garden Apothecary, whose written works have been featured in The Australian Women’s Weekly, Women’s Fitness magazine and GQ online.

For those with limited outdoor space, we invite you to join Duncan Cocking from Leaf Root and Fruit as he shares valuable hints and tips on growing your own vegetables in containers and small space gardens.

Over at the Sustainability Hub, The Rogue Ginger will offer tips on how to lead a Zero Waste Life and My Green Garden will deliver a delicious Preserves Workshop. Little green thumbs can get their hands dirty with The Sage Garden, a special workshop just for kids. Each child will decorate a terracotta pot and plant an edible seedling with growing instructions to take home.

Other free hands-on activities and roving performances will keep the kids happy and entertained throughout the day including sustainable mobile-making with Emma Grace, Bike ‘n’ Blend smoothies, the Stonnington Toy Library and acoustic duo The Mac Project.

Keep your eyes peeled for Perky and Fiddle; two badly behaved garden gnomes who have escaped the garden bed in search of adventure—all they need is a little help to keep them out of the gardener’s sight.

Get planting straight away with market stalls offering a diverse range of specialist products from Cool Cactus, Town & Country Gardens, Bale Grow and Wormlovers, as well as local community gardens, clubs and services.
