New home buyers can look forward to receiving handy tips and advice on building sustainable homes when Stockland hosts a free event at its Willowdale community at Denham Court.

The Willowdale Sustainable House Day runs from 10am to 4pm at Willowdale’s Community Place, an 8-star house that showcases the latest in sustainable living.

At the event, guests will be given free tours of the environmentally-friendly house which has been designed to achieve close to net zero emissions through a range of energy-saving and ecologically sustainable features.

Other activities on the day include garden games plus a free barbecue and a performance by the Western Sydney Youth Orchestra at 2pm.

Willowdale Community Place was built in November 2016 and it is used as a venue for community events, activities, classes and workshops. It has achieved a Liveable Housing Australia Silver Accreditation status which ensures that it has been designed to cater for families of all ages and abilities.

Richard Rhydderch, Stockland General Manager, NSW Residential Development, said anyone interested in building a sustainable home at the family-friendly community would benefit from attending the free event at the Willowdale Community Place on 17 September.

“New home builders and renovators attending the event will be able to see first-hand design and lifestyle features that use less water, decrease energy use, make the most of insulation efficiencies and minimise waste,” Mr Rhydderch said.

“Buyers who are considering purchasing a new home at Willowdale will also benefit from wandering through Willowdale’s 30 home display village and taking a closer look at our award-winning community which offers a range of home sites for all lifestyles and budgets.”

Guests will also be able to sign up for future sessions at Willowdale Community Place aimed at improving energy efficiency around the house.

Willowdale, at Denham Court, is one of the most sought-after communities in NSW, with buyers drawn by its location and proximity to local employment centres, educational facilities, shopping centres and recreational areas.

Located in the East Leppington growth precinct, Willowdale is just 15km from Liverpool and with convenient commuter access to the M5 and M7 motorways.

Launched in 2013, Willowdale will eventually comprise more than 3,200 dwellings, including innovative medium density, completed homes, retirement living, a community centre, sports facilities, a proposed new primary school and its own neighbourhood retail centre.

Willowdale has also been awarded the internationally recognised 6 Star Green Star – Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia. The rating recognises world leadership across a wide range of environmental, economic and social sustainability measures.
