The Madwomen are back for a seventh season of brilliant monologues showcasing the work of emerging women writers. Vivid characters and compelling stories; comic and heartbreaking, powerful and vulnerable, and all recognisably, beautifully human.

Produced by Baggage Productions, this year’s collection of 12 monologues will be performed over two programs playing on alternate nights at The Butterfly Club. Visit the website for details and bookings.

Baggage Productions is an independent theatre company in Melbourne which came into being in 1999 when Bridgette Burton and Christina Costigan, frustrated with the lack of roles for women, decided to take their creative lives into their own hands and start producing their own work. Over the last 18 years, Baggage has consistently produced shows—from sketch comedy to short and full-length plays—that have delighted audiences and critics alike. In 2009, Beaten Hearts enjoyed a sell-out season at the Dog Theatre, reprised in Los Angeles in 2010, followed by The Subconscious Cometh (Trades Hall, 2011), Rhonda is in Therapy (fortyfivedownstairs, 2012), The Okinawa Hymen Repair Kit Factory (Bluestone, 2013), Ambition (Bluestone, 2014), Anno Zombie (Chapel off Chapel, 2017) and the Madwomen Monologues (annually since 2011).
