Unbound Equanimity, Love, Compassion and Joy: The Four Immeasurables with Geshe Tsultrim “When we are freed from the reactive patterns sprung from the boundaries we live by—good and bad; love and hate—we are not the self we were before. And when the boundaries themselves dissolve, self as we understand it disappears. These four boundless qualities, which literally have “no measure” are equanimity, love, compassion, and joy. By dissolving the boundaries that constrain us, these four qualities expand our capacity for experience. Join Geshe Tsultrim as he shares with us the Buddhist understanding of equanimity, love, compassion and joy and how deepening these concepts in our lives can radically effect our experience of ourselves and others. Learn practical mediations and strategies you can use to change your interactions with others.

Geshe Tsultrim is immensely popular for the warm and approachable way in which he presents the Dharma and inspires our community. Geshe Phuntsok Tsultrim was born in Tibet in 1969. At 14, he became a monk at Sera Je Monastery in India, where he was awarded his Geshe degree (the equivalent of a doctorate in Buddhist studies) in 2005. He spent a further two years studying tantra at Gyume Tantric Monastery. He began teaching at Chenrezig Institute in 2014 after being chosen for our community by Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Established 1974, Chenrezig Institute is a centre for Buddhist study, meditation, retreat and practice nestled in the foothills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The Institute is home to a Tibetan Geshe (Lama), a large community of ordained Sangha (monks and nuns), students, residents, volunteers, retreat goers and guests.

Apart from the formal study programmes, Chenrezig Institute is a peaceful, calm and relaxing place to spend a few hours, days or weeks. Stroll along the bush paths, wander in formal garden, espresso in the cafe or a vegetarian meal.

Teachers’ availability subject to change; please refer to the Chenrezig Institute Calendar for updated information. Also below the far carpark is our new addition ‘The Wellbeing Centre’ which provides courses focusing on cultivating physical, emotional and mental balance and wellbeing. They include authentic traditional and modern psychological approaches to health and lifestyle. They are suitable for everyone who maybe looking for genuine happiness and well-being in a non-religious framework.
