In collaboration with renowned local, interstate and international artists and photographers, Wildlife Asia is hosting the Roar Arts Event. The gallery will be open for viewing from 2–9 November, culminating in an evening of entertainment featuring band Barefeet Sojourns, roving magicians, live art creations and an auction of selected works on November 9 run by Art Auctioneer John Cook.

Director of the not for profit organisation based in Perth, Clare Campbell, has recently returned from the field “this years focus is to highlight the Leuser ecosystem, specifically the Sumatran elephant population. These animals are so charismatic and larger than life, we need to safeguard habitat to protect them for future generations”. Ms Campbell has been working with Elephant Protection Units that will monitor the elephants in the wild utilising GPS collars, a first in this area.

Connecting with values shared by many artists, Wildlife Asia saves Critically Endangered species across Asia from extinction. Wildlife Asia supports the conservation of species such as rhinos, orangutans, bears, tigers, elephants and gibbons and their habitat and we focus on the direct protection of wildlife from poaching and illegal encroachment through Wildlife Protection Units as well as the long-term securing of land in critical areas.

The artworks on offer will be sure to capture the hearts and imagination of our audience and they will take home more than just an amazing piece but also the knowledge that they have contributed to the protection of wildlife. Some of the art includes a Salvador Dali signed EP lithograph, Picasso hand-signed lithographs, art by Australian artists Jeanette Dyson, Ailsa Small, Geraldine Simmons and Mel McVee. Art ranges from contemporary, to surrealist and an array of wildlife photography, paintings and prints.

“There are a lot of charming pieces suitable for a child’s room and stunning photography from acclaimed wildlife photographer Paul Hilton. It isn’t all wildlife themed either with something for everyone!”

Wildlife Asia is passionate about wildlife; we are hoping the Perth public share our passion. For further information please contact event organiser: holly.thompson@wildlifeasia.org.au or 0402 001 116.

Tickets include vegetarian and vegan food, a drink, entertainment and spot prizes. The gallery is open for viewing from the 2–9 November. The main event starts at 5pm on the 9th with the band at 6:30pm and auction from 7:30pm.
