Portland, Oregon songwriter, Shelley Short, is returning to Australia to celebrate the release of new album Pacific City.

Recorded on the Oregon Coast with producer Peter Broderick, Pacific City is an album formed around the elemental themes of folk music—longing, death, freedom, inequality and acceptance of change, Broderick said of working with Short—“In an age when tradition is often foregone, Shelley seems to be able to look back and find meaningful guidance in the ways of the past.” Influenced by musical heroes like Connie Converse, Jake Thackray and The Space Lady, Pacific City is equal parts old world fairy tale and modern world reverie.

A collaboration release between Portland’s vinyl-focused Mississippi Records and Darren’s Hanlon’s Flippin Yeah Records, Short has spent the last six months touring the USA extensively, and this will be Short’s first chance to play the new record live in Australia since its release.

Joining her on tour will be Flippin Yeah label-mate, Anthonie Tonnon, who, taking more from the future-folk of artists like The Space Lady than older traditions, has just released the new Extended Player and single Two Free Hands.

Since releasing the album Successor on Flippin Yeah, Tonnon has toured widely, supporting The Veils and Nadia Reid in North America and Europe, and The Chills on a thorough tour of New Zealand, as well as his own headline tours in the USA and Australasia. Over that time, Tonnon has developed a one-of-a-kind show that combines both electronic and traditional instrumentalism, theatricality and dance.
