One of Australia’s leading natural documentary producers is launching a national tour of Beauty and the Reef: a call to action regarding the gravity of conditions in the Great Barrier Reef. A qualified dive instructor and self-taught film-maker, Lin fell in love with marine life as a young girl. Her first production was an ocean soundscape called Sea Symphony released on ABC DVD well over a decade ago. Beauty and the Reef was filmed over many years and was primarily self-funded by the Currumbin woman.

"Ahead of the house cinema release and television release, I want to connect on a local level—teaming up with eco-friendly, sustainable businesses or businesses," said Sutherland.

"All humans need to take ownership of the end result of our consumption in terms of ocean pollution and together we can help bring urgent reef awareness leading to better environmental practices," she said.

Lin has designed and dedicated her life to highlighting the importance of saving the Great Barrier Reef and environments all around the world—a fight none of us can afford to lose.

"It’s not about pointing the finger but rather I’m creating a big picture conversation plan based on science and facts," said Sutherland.

PADI, Sea Shepherd, Australian Conservation Foundation, Wilderness Society and World Wildlife Fund have all been involved in the production along with leading scientists and environmental experts.

An environmental lawyer, earth technician scientist, chemical expert, and experts on plastic substitute and dealing with waste experts will host a Q&A panel at the screenings. Lin has completed 65 environmentally based TV shows—each having aired to commercial audiences through networks like Channel 9 and Discovery with National networks in USA, NZ, Russia, Asia, Europe and South America also showing her series.
